2 IRGC militants killed in attack in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North press) – Unknown gunmen targeted on Monday a bus of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) near the town of al-Asharah in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

A military source in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that the assailants attacked with a rocket and machine guns the bus, which was carrying IRGC militants, near the al-Waqia neighborhood in proximity to the livestock market in al-Asharah. The bus was coming from Iraqi territories.

The source said that the attack resulted in the killing of two militants and the injury of others. Following the incident, the IRGC positioned their forces along the main road connecting al-Asharah and al-Quriyah, imposing restrictions on the movements of residents and vehicles.

The source noted that the bus was transporting new recruits from Iraq. North Press could not independently determine the exact number of casualties.
