Attack on IRGC militants in Deir ez-Zor leaves 8 casualties

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Five militants of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed and three others were injured on Thursday evening in an attack launched by unknown gunmen in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

A military source of the IRGC said, unidentified gunmen, using machine guns, fired at a vehicle of the abovementioned militia in the town of Abu Kamal, east of Deir ez-Zor.

The source told North Press that the attack resulted in the killing of five militants, including a leader, and the injury of three others.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers were in uniform and using a military vehicle, the source noted.

The IRGC brought in military reinforcement to the area and launched a massive arrest campaign.
