3 teachers arrested in Syria’s Afrin over removing Turkish flag
AFRIN, Syria (North press) – The Military Police of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) arrested on Thursday three teachers in a town in the countryside of Afrin, northwestern Syria, on charges of removing the Turkish flag from a classroom.
A local source told North Press that the SNA’s Military Police arrested three teachers from a school in the center of the town of Balbul in the countryside of Afrin, and transferred them to the Balbul Prison.
The source added that the charge directed to these teachers was removing the Turkish flag from one of the classrooms in the school.
On Nov. 29, the Civil Police of the SNA arrested four teachers who resigned from the Turkish Yunus Emre Cultural Institute in Afrin. The teachers had resigned in protest against the institute’s agenda in promoting Turkish language and culture in the region.
