Opposition members in Syria’s Idlib seek government’s settlement process

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – An Exclusive source from the Syrian government said on Thursday that members of the Turkish-backed opposition are preparing to engage in a settlement process initiated by the Syrian government in Idlib Governorate.

The source, located in the town of Khan Shaykhun in northwest of Idlib, told North Press that the list of those willing to settle their status includes 30 names. They will be guaranteed by the security committees of the government forces before surrendering themselves.

The source, however, did not mention the areas of those seeking settlement. The process is taking place in the coming days, according to the source.

In August 2018, the government forces re-controlled Khan Shaykhun after battles with the armed opposition. In September 2022, they opened a settlement center.
