Iranian-backed militias evacuate posts in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Iranian-backed militias evacuated on Sunday three posts in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, for unknown reasons.

A military source in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) told North Press that the Liwa al-Quds, an Iranian-backed militia, evacuated a military post near the Abu Kamal Bridge in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. Later, Syrian government forces stationed in the post without prior notice, according to government soldiers in stationed in the post.

The source added the Liwa al-Quds evacuated another post between the town of al-Mayadin and al-Quriyah city in the east of Deir ez-Zor. The militia relocated its militants to a training camp near the Shiite Ain Ali shrine without leaving any militants behind.

Additionally, the Iranian-backed Liwa Fatemiyoun evacuated a logistic site designated for injured militants and the families of its killed militants in the village of Tayyba for unknown reasons, according to the source.

Days earlier, the IRGC evacuated three posts following a meeting with senior Iranian leaders.
