Government forces kill HTS leader in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces shelled on Sunday areas in the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo governorates, northwestern Syria, resulting in the killing of a leader within the ranks of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front).
A military leader in the HTS-linked al-Fath al-Mubin Operations Room claimed that the government forces targeted the villages of Fatterah, al-Bara, Kafr Oweid, and Majdaliya in southern Idlib with artillery and rockets, which resulted in the injury of four people, including a child.
He added to North Press that Abu Hayder Falluja, an Iraqi leader within the HTS, was killed along with his comrade, Abu Talha al-Shami, by a guided missile launched by the government forces which targeted their military vehicle while they were leaving the town of Taftanaz, east of Idlib.
The source also said that the government forces also shelled the villages of Kafr Taal and the outskirts of the town of Kafr Nouran in western Aleppo, without any information about human casualties.
