SNA faction seizes relief aid trucks in Syria’s Tel Abyad

TEL ABYAD, Syria (North Press) – A military faction affiliated with the Turkish-backed armed opposition, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA) seized on Saturday trucks carrying relief aid meant for camps on the outskirts of the town of Tel Abyad, northern Syria.

This occurred following a disagreement between the Tel Abyad Local Council, founded by Turkey, and the leader of the Levant Front (al-Jabha al-Shamiya), affiliated with the SNA.

The trucks carried relief aid allocated for families residing in camps in Tel Abyad.

An official in the Council said that militants of the Levant Front raided one of their warehouses and seized three trucks carrying relief rations for more than 500 families residing in camps in the outskirts of Tel Abyad.

He told North Press that the seizure was a result of a disagreement between a leader in the faction and one of the Council’s officials regarding the distribution of the relief aid.

The Turkish forces did not intervene to return the seized trucks. The dispute and mutual threats continued between the two parties, according to the official.

He added that the SNA faction transferred the trucks to a warehouse in the village of Ain al-Arous in the south of Tel Abyad.
