ISIS, government soldiers clash in Syrian Desert leaving casualties
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Clashes erupted on Monday evening between Syrian government forces and militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Syrian Desert that resulted in casualties.
One ISIS militant and two soldiers of the government forces were killed in a clash erupted in the Syrian Desert, a military source from the government forces said.
ISIS militants attacked two headquarters of the Division 26 of the government forces in the outskirts of the town of Shamsin in the Syrian Desert. The attack, that lasted for two hours, resulted in intense clashes between the two parties, the source said.
The source further explained that the government forces conducted patrols to pursue the attacking cells. This, however, led to the eruption of another clash which resulted in the killing of an unidentified ISIS militant, as he did not possess identification papers, and two soldiers of the government forces.
Clashes erupted between ISIS militants on one hand, and the government forces along with their affiliated auxiliary groups and the Iranian-backed militias on the other, in the Syrian Desert in the past two days led to the killing and injury of more than 40 individuals, a military source from the government told North Press.
