Gunmen attack SDF posts in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor for third day
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Gunmen carried out early on Monday attacks against several posts of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source in the SDF said that armed groups affiliated with Ibrahim al-Hefl, sheikh of the al-Uqaydat tribe, attacked their posts in the town of al-Ozba and al-Suwar in the north of Deir ez-Zor. The attacks resulted in clashes, forcing the perpetrators to retreat.
Al-Hefl, backed by the government forces and Iranian-backed militias in areas west of the Euphrates River, became known during the recent clashes in Deir ez-Zor, where he worked to mobilize militants and called to fight against the SDF.
The source told North Press that unidentified armed individuals riding a motorcycle targeted a military vehicle of the SDF on the main road in the village of Suwaydan, which resulted in the injury of an SDF fighter inside the vehicle.
On Sunday, a mortar shell, launched by the government forces in the western bank of the Euphrates, hit the house of a civilian in the village of Daranj, resulting in material damage.
Moreover, armed militants launched attacks on SDF posts in Hajin, Shuhail, Tayyana, and Shinan in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, without causing any human casualties.
For the third day in a row, militants affiliated with the government forces have been launching attacks on SDF posts in Deir ez-Zor.
