Landmine blast kills, injures 18 NDF militants in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Four members of the National Defense Forces (NDF), a pro-Syrian government militia, were killed and 14 others were injured on Sunday in a landmine explosion as their bus was passing through the western desert of Deir ez-Zor, a governorate in eastern Syria.
An NDF military source said that a landmine exploded with a bus carrying NDF militants while they were patrolling the desert near the village of al-Shujairi in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The source added that the killed militants are “23-year-old Bashar Ali al-Hamad, 26-year-old Maher Muhammad al-Marai, 22-year-old Maher Mahmoud al-Marai, and 25-year-old Saddam Sheikh al-Sayed.”
Fourteen other militants were wounded in the explosion, the source noted.
According to the source, the militants hailed from villages near the town of al-Tabni in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
