Khabur Cultural Festival kicks off in Syria’s Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Khabur Cultural Festival kicked off on Saturday in coordination between a local organization and several cultural and artistic associations in Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria.
The Syriac Cultural Association, the Rojava Culture and Art Association, the Armenian Social Council, the Union of Intellectuals, the Yezidi House, and representatives from cultural, social, and artistic associations from Hasakah attended the festival.
Hajar Amin, a member of the organizing committee of the festival and an employee in the local organization PEL, said the purpose of this festival and similar events is to bring different cultures in society together and to shed light on the civilizations, cultures, and folklore of other peoples and communities.
The festival included musical, artistic, and theatrical performances, with groups from all components of Hasakah performing traditional folklore dances. Several poets recited poems, and a cinema production was screened. Additionally, cultural events were held to introduce the unique characteristics of each nationality and religious community.
Amin told North Press, the organization aims, through these events, to enhance solidarity among the diverse communities that coexist in the region and promote peaceful coexistence, which is aspired by all peoples regardless of their religious beliefs.
