Two SNA factions clash in Syria’s Afrin over dividing profits
AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, clashes broke out between two factions of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) in the town of Bulbul in the countryside of Afrin, northwestern Syria. The clashes resulted from a dispute over logged trees and the division of profits from their sale.
A military source informed North Press that clashes broke out with medium-sized weapons between militants affiliated with the Hamza Division and others linked to the Military Police at a checkpoint near Mount Bulbul, northwest of the town.
The source added that the clashes resulted in the injury of a Military Police militant and another from the Hamza Division.
The source explained that the dispute arose from disagreements over logging trees and dividing the profits obtained from their sale in Mount Bulbul, which is controlled by the Hamza Division.
Locals from the area informed North Press that the Hamza Division and Sultan Murad factions have been working for weeks on logging trees from woodlands in Mount Bulbul and nearby areas, with the aim of selling them in markets for heating purposes.
