Israeli airstrikes target vicinity of Damascus
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Two Israeli airstrikes targeted on Wednesday afternoon the vicinity of the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Israeli airstrikes in Syria have increased since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict on Oct. 7, with Israel claiming that these strikes target Iranian movements and weapon shipments.
A military source from the Syrian government forces was quoted by state-run SANA news agency as saying, “At approximately 3:15 pm this afternoon, the Zionist enemy carried out an aerial aggression with two missiles from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some points in the vicinity of Damascus.”
Some social media accounts published photos showing that the attacks targeted the Shiite-majority town of Sayyida Zainab in south of Damascus.
The same source claimed, “Our air defense systems intercepted the aggression, downing one of the missiles, and the losses were limited to material damage.”
