US-led Coalition base attacked in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – A base of the US-led Global Coalition in the southern countryside of Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria, was targeted on Tuesday by two strikes, suspected to have come from Iraq.

Since Oct. 17, US and Coalition bases in Iraq and Syria have been attacked 64 times by Iran-backed militias as of Monday afternoon, according to the Pentagon. Most of these attacks, which come as a result of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, are claimed by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a coalition of Iran-backed militias in Iraq.

A military source told North Press that earlier on Tuesday, the Shaddadi base of the US-led Coalition was targeted by two strikes.

The source explained that after the two strikes, warplanes were seen flying over the targeted area, without providing any further details.

Our correspondent in Shaddadi obtained no information regarding the extent of losses, if any. No official statement has been issued regarding the incident.

Earlier on Tuesday, US forces in Ain al-Asad airbase in western Anbar, Iraq, were attacked by a close-range ballistic missile which resulted in eight injuries and minor damage to infrastructure, US officials said.

The attack prompted the US to respond by striking an Iran-backed militia, inflicting several militant casualties. The response marks the first American attack on Iraqi territory in two years.
