SNA arrests 4 Kurdish civilians in Syria’s Afrin
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the Sultan Suleiman Shah Division (al-Amshat) of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) raided a town in the Afrin region, northwestern Syria, and arrested four Kurds on charges of espionage for the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
SNA factions have frequently carried out barbaric arrest campaigns under trumped-up charges in the Afrin region and the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northeastern Syria.
A military source from the SNA’s Military Police told North Press that an armed group affiliated with al-Amshat raided three houses in the town of Basouta this afternoon and arrested four Kurdish civilians without coordinating with the security and military authorities in the town.
The source said that the detainees were transferred to al-Amshat prison in the town of Sheikh Hadid (Shiye) in the countryside of Afrin, on charges of espionage for the PKK.
He added that the names of three detainees are Najati Ismail, Ruad Ismail, and Hassan Aziz, while the name of the fourth person is still unknown.
