SNA militants arrest original inhabitant in Syria’s Afrin
AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – Militants of the Sultan Suleiman Shah Division (al-Amshat) affiliated with the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), arrested on Friday one of the original inhabitants of Afrin city, northwestern Syria.
A local source told North Press that al-Amshat militants arrested Youssef Ahmad, 28, three days after being deported from Turkey. The militants brutally assaulted him during the arrest without disclosing the reasons.
A source in al-Amshat told North Press that over two months ago the Division’s command had issued clear instructions to the security forces in the town of Sheikh Hadid (Shiye) and Afrin, to arrest any young man recently returned from Turkey or other areas.
In the same context, the Human Rights Organization in Afrin stated on its Facebook account, on Saturday, that the Civil and Military Police arrested a man, 61, who had returned from Germany to Afrin a month ago. They also arrested another man who came from Aleppo to the countryside of Afrin to demand his house, which was seized by an SNA militant.
For over three months, Turkish authorities have been deporting thousands of Syrian refugees from their territories to northwestern Syria, where Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) and SNA factions are in control.
