2 Iran-backed militants killed in attack in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two militants of the Iran-backed militia of Liwa al-Quds were killed on Thursday in an attack targeting their military posts in a town in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
On Nov. 14, a leader in the militia was injured after his vehicle was targeted at the entrance of the town of Abu Kamal, in eastern Deir ez-Zor near the Iraqi-Syrian border.
A military source from Liwa al-Quds informed North Press that unknown gunmen attacked two security checkpoints of the militia near the shrine of Ain Ali in the town of al-Mayadin, eastern Deir ez-Zor, taking advantage of a heavy fog.
The source explained that the attack resulted in the killing of two militants of the militia. Consequently, militiamen of Liwa al-Quds and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were put on high alert. All streets passing in front of their posts were blocked fearing further attacks.
