US-led Global Coalition base attacked in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The US-led Global Coalition base in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, was targeted on Wednesday with rockets without causing any damages.
Residents in villages in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor near the Global Coalition’s base in al-Omar oil field told North Press that the base was attacked with four rockets late on Wednesday.
The locals added that the base was also targeted on Wednesday afternoon with three rockets.
The rockets hit the vicinity of the field without causing damages or casualties. They were launched from areas held by the Syrian government forces in the west of the Euphrates River, where the actual authority is the Iranian-backed militias, according to the locals.
Since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict on Oct. 7, following a surprise attack by Hamas, the so-called Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an Iranian-backed militia, has stepped up its attacks against US bases in Syria.
In response, US forces have launched retaliatory airstrikes on sites linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated Iranian-backed militias in Deir ez-Zor.
On Nov. 14, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary, Sabrina Singh, told reporters that Iranian-backed militias in Syria and Iraq continue attacks on US troops involved in the fight against the Islamic State (ISIS). She said that since Oct. 17, 55 attacks were conducted against US forces in Syria and Iraq, injuring 59 US troops.
