Unknown gunmen target SNA militants in Syria’s Sere Kaniye
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – One militant was killed and three others, all affiliated with a Turkish-backed faction, were injured on Wednesday after unidentified gunmen targeted their vehicle on the road to the village of Alouk, east of the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in the northern countryside of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.
A military official in the Mu’tasim Division, a faction of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA), told North Press that the targeting occurred while the faction’s military vehicle was heading from a base in Alouk to Sere Kaniye.
The attackers used light machine guns and hand grenades, resulting in the malfunction of the vehicle and the killing of one militant. In addition, three other militants sustained severe injuries and were subsequently transported to Sere Kaniye Hospital for treatment.
He added that the SNA’s Military Police and Mu’tasim Division, affiliated with the Third Legion, deployed their militants at the scene but have not been able to identify the perpetrators yet.
According to a medical source from Sere Kaniye Hospital, the deceased militant has been identified as Marwan Hamoud, 26, and that the injuries sustained by the others ranged from serious to moderate. The source further said that Turkish authorities denied them entry into their territory for medical treatment.
