Exclusive: Government to launch general mobilization in Syria’s Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North press) – In a significant military development, North Press received a copy of an exclusive letter issued from the office of the Syrian Minister of Defense, Maj. Gen. Ali Mahmoud Abbas, addressed to Munther Saad Ibrahim, the military commander responsible for Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria.
A military source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told North Press that as part of the mobilization campaign, young men under the age of 40 from the cities of Qamishli and Hasakah will be drafted into the military reserve.
The letter outlines calling up all reservists to their assigned military units. Even young men with deferrals will be enlisted when captured by Syrian government forces at checkpoints, according to the letter, which refers to these procedures as ‘general mobilization’.
These developments, if true, signal a shift in the military situation in the areas controlled by the Syrian government.
The letter clarifies that the circular will be issued imminently, strongly urging full compliance by all checkpoints, government departments, and security branches upon its distribution.
