ISIS attacks government forces in Syrian Desert causing casualties

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State (ISIS) carried out on Saturday at night an attack on a headquarters of the Syrian government forces in Palmyra, central Syria. The attack is the third in less than a week. 

A military source in the government forces said that ISIS militants targeted a joint military post of the government forces and their affiliated National Defense Forces on the vicinity of Palmyra desert.

The source told North Press that the ISIS militants took control of the headquarters and killed two members of the National Defense Forces, as well as, they confiscated weapons and burned the headquarters before leaving.

The attack is the third of its kind in less than a week, despite the mobilization and reinforcements of the government forces and the Iranian-backed factions, according to the source.

On Nov. 8, ISIS launched an attack against the government forces in the Syrian Desert, killing more than 30 people and injuring several others.

A day after, four militants of the Iran-backed Liwa al-Quds were killed and five others were injured after ISIS targeted their military posts in Homs countryside.
