ISIS kills 4 militants, injures others of Liwa al-Quds in Syria’s Homs

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Four militants of the Iran-backed Liwa al-Quds were killed and five others were injured on Thursday at dawn after the Islamic State (ISIS) targeted their military posts in Homs countryside, central Syria.

A military source in the Liwa al-Quds said that dozens of armed militants from ISIS, riding in four-wheel drive vehicles and motorcycles, attacked Liwa al-Quds headquarters in the town of al-Sukhnah, east of Homs.

The source told North Press that the attack resulted in the killing of four militants and the injury of five others of the Liwa al-Quds.

Additionally, ISIS militants managed to seize two vehicles and weapons belonging to the mentioned faction.

The attack is the second during 24 hours, as ISIS launched on Wednesday an attack against the Syrian government forces in the Syrian Desert, killing more than 30 people and injuring several others, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has deployed military reinforcements to the al-Sukhnah countryside following the two attacks, and a sweeping operation is expected to be launched in the desert, according to the source.
