SNA attacks wedding of Kurdish family in Syria’s Tel Abyad
TEL ABYAD, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, members of the Levant Front, a faction of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA), raided a wedding for a Kurdish couple near the city of Tel Abyad, northern Syria, and beat up the groom, his father, the bride’s father, and their cousins. They then arrested them and took them to a security center.
An official in the SNA’s Military Police in Tel Abyad told North Press, “Members led by the so-called Shihab ad-Din Abu Yassin from the Levant Front faction raided the wedding of the young man Shahin Ahmad in the village of Ain al-Arous, south of Tel Abyad, and physically assaulted him and members of his family.”
He added that the militants beat up the bride’s father, Hajj Yousef al-Hassan, the father of the groom, and three of his cousins, Mustafa Ahmad, Rashad Ahmad, and Saadoun Ahmad. They then arrested them and took them to one of the faction’s security centers on charges of terrorism.
According to local residents at the village, this incident occurred as a retaliatory act in response to the bride’s father rejecting a marriage proposal made by Shihab al-Din, the leader of the faction, approximately two months ago, to marry the same daughter.
