Iraqi Islamic Resistance vows to liberate Iraq ‘militarily’

ERBIL, KRI, Iraq (North Press) – The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a coalition of Iran-backed militias in Iraq, announced that they have decided to liberate Iraq militarily, in reference to US forces present in Iraq under official agreements with Baghdad.

Although the Islamic Resistance has not specifically named US or other foreign forces present in Iraq, US bases in Syria and Iraq have repeatedly been attacked by Iran-backed militias since beginning of the Israel-Hamas war on Oct. 7.

On Tuesday, Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Patrick Ryder said that between Oct. 7 and 31, 27 attacks targeted US bases in Syria and Iraq. Many of them were claimed by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq.

Akram al-Kaabi – the founder of Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba, a militia in the Islamic Resistance – said in a statement on social media platform X, “The Islamic Resistance has decided to militarily liberate Iraq, and the matter has been settled.”

According to the information available, these Iraqi militias receive funding from Iran and operate under various names. Reports indicate that they are directly controlled by the al-Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The statement also hinted at carrying out future attacks against US bases, saying that “the greater is yet to come.”
