1 killed, 2 injured in blast in Syria’s Sere Kaniye

SERE KANIYE, Syria (North Press) – An explosion of a war remnant near a village in the countryside of the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northeastern Syria, resulted in the death of a child and the injury of two other individuals.

On Oct. 4, two people were injured by a similar explosion in the town of Suluk, southeast of the city of Tel Abyad, northern Syria.

Both Sere Kaniye and Tel Abayd have been under the control of the Turkish forces and their affiliated factions the Syrian National Army (SNA) since October 2019 following a military operation dubbed ‘Peace Spring’.

Mamdouh al-Naddawi, a relative of the victims, told North Press, “A war remnant exploded with my brother and his two children at 5 pm on Tuesday. It resulted in the injury of my brother Omar al-Naddawi and one of his children, while the other child, Hassan, 5, was killed in the blast.”

He added that the explosion took place while his brother was attempting to repair one of the electrical columns on his agricultural land near the village of Alouk Sharqi.

A medical source from the Ras al-Ain Hospital stated that one body and two injured individuals arrived at the hospital coming from the village of Alouk Sharqi.

The medical source pointed out that the Turkish side refused to receive the injured individuals through the Ras al-Ain border crossing, despite the severity of their conditions, and that both of them were admitted to the intensive care unit.
