DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Clashes broke out on Saturday between the Syrian government forces and their affiliated National Defense Forces (NDF) in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, resulting in casualties.

A military source in the town of Abu Kamal, eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, stated that an NDF group attacked a Military Security headquarters in the town due to a dispute over drug trafficking. The government forces arrested a drug dealer affiliated with the NDF.

The source added that clashes broke out between them, resulting in the killing of Ali al-Nabhan, a soldier of the Military Security, and Dorayd al-Sameh, an NDF member, as well as the injury of another NDF member.

The clashes stopped when patrols from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) intervened to end the conflict, the source reported.
