Suspected Turkish drone kills SDF-Coalition coordinator in NE Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A senior commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was killed by a suspected Turkish drone strike in northeast Syria on Friday.
Muhammad Shibli, who worked as a coordinator between the SDF and the US-led Global Coalition in the fight against ISIS, was killed by a drone, likely to be Turkish, while he was in his house in the city of Derik (al-Malikiyah) in the far northeast Syria.
A source from the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayihs) earlier told North Press that a Turkish drone struck a house in Azadi Square in the city center of Derik (al-Malikiyah).
The drone strike also led to the injury of a 39-year-old woman, Avin Khalil, and an 11-year-old child named Ahmad Shahin.
Shibli took part in several battles against ISIS. In 2914, he was assumed as a coordinator of the operations against ISIS within the joint efforts between the SDF and the Coalition, a source told North Press.
