Unidentified individuals attack US base in Syria’s Shaddadi

SHADDADI, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified individuals targeted on Thursday the US base in the countryside of Shaddadi in southern Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria.

Eyewitnesses told North Press correspondent that unknown individuals attacked the US base in Shaddadi with mortars.

The source said one of the mortars hit the center of the base while another hit the outskirts of the village of al-Hariri, one kilometer east of the base without causing significant damages.

On Wednesday, a base of the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat the Islamic State (ISIS) near the town of Rmelan, northeastern Syria, was targeted with three rockets coming from Iraqi territory. The Islamic Resistance of Iraq has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Also on Wednesday, US Department of Defense spokesman Air Force Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder said in an interview with Sky News Arabia that the objective of reinforcing the US military presence in the region following the outbreak of Israel-Hamas war is to deter escalation and to protect their forces in Syria and Iraq.
