IRGC turns houses of civilians to military posts in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) seized on Wednesday three houses of civilians to turn them into military posts in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A military source within an Iranian-backed militia present in the town of Abu Kamal in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor told North Press, “The IRGC seized the house of Muaz al-Saleh in the al-Sukariya neighborhood in the countryside of Abu Kamal after evicting the owners under the pretext of being close to one of their headquarters. They threatened to arrest the owner if the post was subjected to any attacks.”

“The IRGC seized two houses in the al-Temo neighborhood in the south of town al-Mayadin in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. They turned the houses to military posts to hide in just in case any of their main posts  are targeted,” he added.

According to the source the IRGC purposefully establishes posts inside densely-populated neighborhoods “without raising banners or flags to avoid being targeted.”

Two days earlier the IRGC seized a park on the banks of the Euphrates River in al-Mayadin and prohibited the locals from entering except for its militants.

Since early October, the IRGC took over more than nine houses of civilians in Deir ez-Zor, and turned them into military posts after frequent unidentified airstrikes targeted their headquarters.
