US base in NE Syria attacked by Iraq’s Islamic Resistance
RMELAN, Syria (North Press) – A base of the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS near the town of Rmelan, northeastern Syria, was targeted on Wednesday with three rockets coming from Iraqi territory. The Islamic Resistance of Iraq has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Islamic Resistance of Iraq, affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), claimed responsibility for the attack on the US base at the Abu Hajar Airport near the village of Kharab al-Jir.
Eyewitnesses in the area reported to North Press that explosions were heard in a base of the US forces in the countryside of Rmelan. This coincided with the frequent flights of US warplanes over the area.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal cited US and Israeli officials as saying that the Pentagon is swiftly working to deploy 12 air-defense systems to Syria, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, to protect US troops deployed there from potential missile and rocket attacks.
On Oct. 18, 20 US military personnel were injured as two one-way attack drones targeted al-Tanf military base in southern Syria near the border with Iraq and Jordon, according to the NBC, citing CENTCOM.
