Intra-SNA clashes take place in Syria’s Afrin

AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – Fierce clashes took place on Tuesday between factions of the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA) in the city of Afrin, northwest Syria, causing security chaos.

Military leader of Second Legion told North Press that militants of Jaysh al-Sharqiya attacked headquarters of the Turkish-backed Military Police in Afrin. All the aforementioned factions are affiliated with the SNA.

The attack took place after the Military Police arrested Ahmad al-Mousa, a leader of Jaysh al-Sharqiya, according to the source.

The source mentioned that the clashes lasted for more than an hour and led to injuring a militant of the Military Police, resulting in a state of terror among residents, especially that the Military Police headquarter is located in a residential area.

The attack coincided with fierce clashes between the Military Police and cells believed to be affiliated with Ahrar al-Sham (Eastern Sector), affiliated with the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front). Ahrar al-Sham besieged a group of the Military Police in the town of Aulan, northeast Aleppo, according to the source.
