Government forces kill two ISIS militants in Syria’s Hama

HAMA, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that its forces managed  to kill two militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) and injure others while the militants were setting up an ambush on a road located east of the town of Ithriyah, in east of the city of Hama, in central Syria.

On Oct. 18, ISIS launched an attack military posts of the Syrian government forces in the town of al-Sukhnah in the eastern countryside of Homs Governorate, in central Syria. ISIS killed and abducted many soldiers and took control of some posts. Subsequently, the government sent military reinforcements to al-Sukhnah and the countryside of Homs and managed to regain control of the posts.

The Ministry of Defense said in a statement on its Facebook page, “Through monitoring and follow-up operations by our armed forces to the terrorist organizations movements and their continuous attempts to launch attacks on innocent civilians, a group of the terrorist organization of Daesh [ISIS] was spotted on Tuesday dawn where it was setting up an ambush on the main road east of Ithriyah.

“The army immediately dealt with appropriate fire means, killing two terrorists and wounding others,” the statement added.
