Damages caused by Turkish attacks in NE Syria exceed Billion dollars

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Director of oil fields in the city of Rmelan in far northeastern Syria, Ahmad Ibrahim said on Tuesday the value of damages caused to the infrastructure by the Turkish attacks on northeastern Syria exceeds one billion dollars.

Ibrahim told North Press the total losses and damages, according to the global prices and value of oil and gas, power generation stations, sub-stations, reconstruction costs, and damages resulting from a halt in production, exceed one billion and 270 million USD.

From Oct. 5 to Oct. 9, Turkey attacked 104 sites in northern and northeastern Syria, including vital infrastructure such as power, gas, and water stations and educational facilities, with more than 580 air and ground strikes, according to a statement by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

On Oct. 17, AANES called for the intervention of international parties to rehabilitate the infrastructure and vital facilities in northern and northeastern Syria that were destroyed by the recent Turkish airstrikes.
