Unidentified gunmen attack SNA militants in Syria’s Tel Abyad
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified gunmen shot and wounded on Monday three militants of the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), in the southern countryside of Tel Abyad in northern Raqqa, northern Syria.
A source within the Military Police of the SNA told North Press correspondent that unknown gunmen riding a motorcycle attacked with light weapons a military vehicle of the Hamza Division while heading to the village of Hamam al-Turkman in the southern countryside of Tel Abyad. The attack led to the injury of three SNA militants who were taken to the Tel Abyad Hospital.
The source added that the Military Police, backed by the Hamza Division, imposed a security cordon at the scene of the attack.
The source noted this attack is the second that occurred in October in Tel Abyad and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in northern Syria with no parties claiming responsibility.
In October 2019, Turkish forces, along with the SNA, occupied the city of Tel Abyad and its surrounding areas after a military operation dubbed ‘Peace Spring’. About 175,000 people were displaced from the area.
