SDF captures ISIS operative before conducting attack in Syria’s Hasakah
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) stated on Sunday capturing an Islamic State (ISIS) operative in the northeastern countryside of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.
The SDF’s Media Center said in a statement, as part of the fight against ISIS cells in northeastern Syria, their forces conducted “a security operation targeted one ISIS operative in the town of Tal Hamis.”
SDF’s operational units surrounded the residence where the ISIS operative was present and apprehended him, according to the statement.
“According to initial information, the terrorist was about to carry out a terrorist act in the region. Additionally, he participated in several terrorist attacks targeting our forces and civil and service institutions,” the statement added.
SDF forces also confiscated a quantity of explosives, weapons, and ammunition in his possession. The statement also stressed SDF’s commitment to ” tracking down and eliminating the ISIS terrorist cells, dismantling their hiding places, and cutting off their resources to preserve the security and stability of our regions and ensure the safety of our people.”
On Oct. 16, Anti-Terrorism Units (YAT), of the SDF conducted two security operations against ISIS cells in the town of Shuhail, in the southern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, arresting four ISIS militants.
