DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) evacuated several military posts in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, and pushed them, along with other reinforcements coming from Iraqi territory, towards the city of Homs, central Syria.
An IRGC military source in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that they evacuated two posts in the al-Jamiaat neighborhood in the town of Abu Kamal in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. They also evacuated a third post in the al-Fayhaa neighborhood in the same town, and another two in the cities of al-Quriyah and al-Mayadin in the same region.
The source added that the IRGC transported its militants in vehicles and dressed in civilian clothes, for fear of being targeted, to its in the Port Said neighborhood in the city of Deir ez-Zor.
He said that additional reinforcements would arrive from Iraqi territory, and they would be transported, along with those the IRGC evacuated to Deir ez-Zor city, in batches to Homs in central Syria.
The areas located west of the Euphrates are witnessing cautious movements amid alert between the leaders of the IRGC and Iran-backed militias, according to the source.
