Israeli airstrikes put Damascus, Aleppo airports out of service
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday night, Israeli airstrikes hit both Damascus and Aleppo international airports, knocking them out of service.
Syrian state-run SANA news agency cited an unnamed military source as saying that “at about 05:25 am on Sunday, the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial aggression with waves of missiles.”
SANA added that a worker at the Damascus airport was killed and another was wounded due to the airstrike.
The Israeli airstrike caused material damage to the runways at both airports and put them out of commission, the source revealed.
October 12, Israel launched airstrikes against Damascus and Aleppo airports, knocking them out of service. A day after, the Syrian Ministry of Transport said that Aleppo airport would resume its operations on October 14.
Israel repeatedly targets positions in Syria in what appears an effort to curb Iran’s movement in the war-torn country.
