IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday evening, Turkish border guards attacked civilians, including women, as they attempted to cross towards Turkey from Idlib countryside, northwest Syria.
A source from the town of Harem, west of Idlib, reported that 17 civilians, including five women, were violently beaten with sticks near the border wall with Turkey, opposite the town of Harem. They were then transported to the town’s hospital.
The practices of Turkish authorities against civilians seeking to reach Turkish territory to escape difficult living and security conditions have been increasingly harsh, disregarding the presence of women and children.
These practices range from beatings with sticks to torture at detention points, and direct shooting at them.
Hospitals in Harem, Salqin, and Kherbet al-Joz in western Idlib have recorded around 14 gunshot injuries caused by the Turkish border guards, including a woman and a child, according to sources.
