Turkey deports 540 Syrian refugees to north Syria

ALEPPO – IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkish authorities forcibly deported, on Wednesday, 540 Syrian refugees, including women and children, through the crossings of Bab al-Salama, Tel Abyad, and Bab al-Hawa in northern Syria.

”Today, Turkish authorities deported more than 540 Syrian refugees, including women and children, through the crossings of Bab al-Salama, Tel Abyad, and Bab al-Hawa, handing them over to the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA),” administrative sources at Tel Abyad and Bab al-Hawa crossings told North Press.

The sources explained that 70 refugees were handed over by the Turkish side to the SNA at Tel Abyad crossing north of Raqqa, northern Syria, while 140 refugees were handed over to those factions through Bab al-Salama crossing in Aleppo countryside and then were transferred to shelters for investigation.

Turkey also handed over 330 refugees, including women and children, to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS – formerly al-Nusra Front) through Bab al-Hawa crossing, according to the sources.

The sources pointed out that the deportation process took place after the Turkish authorities got all personal documents of the deportees, took their fingerprints and iris scanning, ensuring they would not return to Turkey.
