SDC submits protest memorandum to Global Coalition in NE Syria
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) submitted, on Wednesday, a protest memorandum to the US-led Global Coalition in Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria, condemning the Turkish shelling of the region.
The memorandum was delivered in front of the coalition base in Ghuweiran neighborhood, south of Hasakah.
A delegation comprising tribal leaders from Arab and Kurdish components, along with dozens of Hasakah residents and representatives of political parties, submitted a protest memorandum accompanied by a documented file of Turkey’s violations in northeastern Syria. The file detailed the recent military escalation on facilities, infrastructure, and service installations.
“We submitted a protest memorandum against that shelling and Turkish violations in Kurdish, Arabic, Syriac, and English languages to the Global Coalition as a message for them to take a stronger stance against these violations”, Azhr Ahmad, coordinator of SDC’s Relations Bureau, told North Press.
The protesters called for an aerial ban over northeastern Syria, urging the Global Coalition to adopt a stronger stance against the escalating airstrikes in these regions.
Earlier, Ahmad had called for participation in today’s protest to denounce the Turkish shelling and practices in northeastern Syria.
From Oct. 5 to Oct. 9, Turkey launched 356 airstrikes, artillery shells, and drone strikes on 264 sites in northeastern Syria, hitting gas, water, electricity, and oil installations, infrastructure facilities, and residential areas.
The number of civilian casualties reached 24 people, nine of whom were killed, and 15 others were injured.
