Unknown gunmen carry out 2 attacks against SDF in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified gunmen killed on Monday a fighter of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria. The Islamic State (ISIS) also claimed responsibility for another attack on an SDF checkpoint there.
A military source within the SDF in the town of al-Jazrat in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor said unknown gunmen riding a motorcycle shot at Mahmoud Fuad, an SDF fighter, near the main road in the village of Jazrat al-Buhamid in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
Fuad was instantly killed in the attack, the source told North Press.
Meanwhile, ISIS-linked Amaq news agency said in a statement on Monday, ISIS militants attacked with machineguns a check point of the SDF at the entrance of the village of Hawaij in the town of Diban in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The statement added the attack resulted in the injury of several SDF fighters stationed in the post. Whereas an SDF military source denied the injury of any fighters and confirmed the occurrence of clashes between their fighters and unidentified gunmen.
Deir ez-Zor and its countryside witness frequent assassinations against civilians, security forces and officials of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), usually carried out by ISIS cells.
