Asayish announce arresting two ISIS leaders in Deir ez-Zor
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced that they arrested two leaders of the Islamic State (ISIS) in two operations in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
The Asayish media center said that the Asayish’s Special Forces (HAT), with the support of the US-led Global Coalition, arrested two emirs (leaders) of ISIS in two separate operations in the eastern and northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The statement also said that the HAT units carried out both operations after monitoring and tracking the arrested militants.
One of the detained was an official responsible for funding ISIS’ cells with the aim of carrying out attacks in the region, the Asayish statement added.
They were found in possession of Kalashnikov machine guns and ammunition, according to the statement.
