Turkish-backed SNA tortures 2 individuals in Syria’s Azaz
AZAZ, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, a leader of the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), arrested and tortured two people including a young child in the countryside of Azaz, northwest Syria.
Al-Jabha al-Shamiya faction (Levant Front), affiliated with the SNA, arrested the two individuals after their relatives filed a complaint against Uday Sajo, a leader of the faction, alleging his involvement in bribery related to security matters, as well as his threats towards local organizations to extort money, along with other corruption allegations.
The city of Azaz and its countryside have been under the occupation of the Turkish forces and the SNA factions since July 2012.
“The medical diagnosis confirmed that a young child, Muhammad Aleto, 15, along with another young man, were subjected to electric shocks, in addition to being beaten with sharp tools”, Maher al-Issa, an employee at the Blue Crescent in Azaz, told North Press.
“Sajo arrested Aleto along with another young man named Zakaria Haj Yassin last night”, an administrator at the Complaints Bureau at the police station in Azaz told North Press.
The source added that the leader had tortured them brutally at the security headquarters in the village of Sajo, north of the city. However, they were released this morning after their families interfered.
The families filed a complaint against the leader who refused to comply with the complaint, according to the administrator.
Consequently, Aleto relatives attacked the faction’s headquarters in the village, demanding that Sajo held accountable.
The source noted that the faction, to avoid clashes with the child’s relatives, expelled Sajo from its headquarters. Then, he fled to join Sultan Murad Division, affiliated with the SNA.
