SDF announces targeting Turkish soldiers in Syria’s Ain Issa
AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced, on Thursday, killing one Turkish soldier and injuring four others in a series of operations against Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), in Ain Issa countryside, northern Syria.
The SDF media center said, in a statement, that “on October 9-10, a series of military operations were carried out against the Turkish forces and the SNA.”
The SDF targeted two Turkish bases during the military operations, the first one was near the village of Saida and the second in the village of al-Dibs in the countryside of Ain Issa.
The first operation resulted in the killing of a Turkish soldier and the injury of another. It also led to the destruction of the radar system and surveillance cameras, as well as the destruction of the guards post.
The second operation resulted in the injury of three Turkish soldiers, the statement read.
The statement added that the operations were conducted as a retaliation for killing 29 members of Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria (Asayish) who were killed in a Turkish strike that took place in Derik countryside, in northeastern Syria.
Additionally, the operations were carried out to mark the anniversary of the Turkish occupation of the cities of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Abyad.
On October 9, 2019, Turkish forces and the SNA, launched a military operation against Tel Abyad and Sere Kaniye.
The operation was named “Peace Spring” and led to the occupation of the two cities and their countryside in addition to the displacement of more than 300.000 of the original inhabitants.
