Israeli airstrikes target Damascus, Aleppo international airports

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces targeted, on Thursday, Damascus and Aleppo international airports before the visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian, as stated by Syrian government-affiliated media.

Two days earlier, Israeli media reported that Syrian forces launched rocket shells towards Israel. Shortly afterward, the Israeli army announced that its forces retaliated with artillery and mortar shells directed at Syria.

A security source in Aleppo informed North Press that Aleppo airport’s runway was targeted, causing only material damages with no reports of injuries so far.

Media reported that both Damascus and Aleppo airports are temporarily out of service.

Al-Watan newspaper, affiliated with the Syrian government, mentioned that the Iranian Foreign Minister will arrive in Damascus on Friday to discuss the latest developments.

Other sources claimed that Abdullahian, was en route to Damascus during the Israeli attack, and the Iranian plane carrying the foreign minister changed its course back towards the Iraqi airport.
