Israel shells government posts in south Syria in response to attacks

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli Army said on Tuesday their forces launched artillery and mortar shells towards Syria after several projectiles were reportedly launched from Syrian territories on Israel.

Axios reported citing Emirati sources as saying the United Arab Emirates (UAE) warned the Syrian government not to be involved in the war between Israel and Hamas or permit attacks to be launched from Syrian territories.

Reuters reported the army said its soldiers fired “towards the source of the launch in Syria” without providing any details. The Syrian government did not comment on the incident or report casualties or damages.

Activists from Daraa Governorate, southern Syria, said posts of the Syrian government forces in Qunaitra Governorate, southern Syria, were subjected to Israeli shelling.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that “Palestinian factions working with Hezbollah fired mortar shells towards the Golan Heights, and Israel responded by shelling Syrian regime positions in Quneitra and the countryside of Daraa.”
