Turkey targets 209 sites in northern Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The total number of sites targeted by Turkish forces in northeastern and northern Syria, since October 5, has reached 209 sites.
Between October 5 and late October 9, Turkey launched many airstrikes, artillery shells, and drone strikes, that targeted Derik (al-Malikiyah), to Qamishli, Hasakah, Kobani, and Aleppo northern countryside, all in northern Syria, hitting gas, water, electricity, and oil facilities.
The targeted sites were distributed as follows: 28 infrastructure facilities, 136 residential areas, 33 military sites, including 20 for Syrian government forces, seven farmlands, three factories, a school and a hospital, according to what has been recorded by the Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press.
These sites were targeted with 288 strikes: 207 with artillery and heavy weapons, 25 with fighter jets, and 56 with drones.
The number of civilian casualties reached 24 people, nine of whom were killed, including two women, and 15 others were injured, including four children and three women. As for military personnel, 70 people lost their lives, of whom 39 were killed and 31 others were injured, three of them from government forces.
The targeted sites were distributed among the following cities: 29 in Qamishli, 41 in Hasakah, 48 in Aleppo northern countryside, 13 in Derik, 42 in Ain Issa, 25 in Kobani, seven in Manbij and four in Tel Abayd and the northern countryside of Raqqa.
