Asayish announces losing members in Turkish airstrike in Syria’s Derik
DERIK, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) announced on Sunday night the death of some of its members and the injury of others in a Turkish airstrike of an Asayish center in the eastern countryside of Derik (al-Malikiyah), far-northeastern Syria.
On Sunday, Turkey shelled several oil fields, as well as a number of areas, towns, villages, and positions of Syrian government forces in northeastern Syria, causing significant material damage.
Asayish said in a statement published on its official website that a Turkish warplane targeted on Sunday an Asayish center in eastern Derik, “resulting in the martyrdom of several of our members and the injury of others.”
Since the early hours of Oct. 5 and until Sunday, more than 146 sites in areas and cities in northeastern Syria have been stuck by Turkish airstrikes, shells, and drone attacks, targeting residential areas, military posts and infrastructure, including oil fields, gas plants, power stations, and others, according to the Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press.
Asayish said they would later release details on the attack in another statement.
