Turkish border guards assault 23 Syrians in northwest Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday evening, Turkish border guards assaulted 23 Syrians while they were trying to cross the border from western Salqin, northwest of the city of Idlib, northwest Syria.
In September, Turkish border guards repeatedly opened fire on Syrian asylum seekers while trying to cross the border, killing three people and wounding 19 others, including two women, according to a tally recorded by the Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press.
One of the victims of the beating told North Press that the border guards beat up their group of 23 people, including five women, while they were trying to cross the border near the village of Hir Jamus Kabir, northwest of Idlib.
He added that the border guards detained the group until dawn on Wednesday and handed them over to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) at the Bab al-Hawa border crossing, north of Idlib.
