2 pro-Iranian militants killed in IED blast in Syria’s Homs
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two militants of an Iranian-backed militia were killed and another was injured on Monday in a landmine explosion in eastern Homs, central Syria.
A military source in the Iranian-backed al-Baqir Brigade said two militants of the brigade were killed and another was injured in the explosion of a landmine planted in a military vehicle on the outskirts of al-Sukhnah desert, east of Homs, central Syria.
Two days ago, a military vehicle belonging to the same militia was targeted by an IED on the main road in the city of Palmyra, causing material damage to the vehicle.
Since the beginning of 2023, North Press has documented 54 incidents of landmine explosions that resulted in human and material losses among government forces and Iranian militias.
The source told North Press that the vehicle was heading to the town of Kabajib, south of Deir ez-Zor, to transport food to the scattered military posts in the desert.
The Iranian-backed militias and Syrian government forces control vast areas of the Syrian Desert and eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, which continue to witness increasing activity by ISIS.
